Efficient Rhodamine B Dye Removal from Water by Acid- and Organo-Modified Halloysites

The halloysite has been subjected to modification through ultrasound (HU), sulfuric acid (HU-SA), and oligocyclopentadiene resin (HU-OCPD). modified materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), thermogravimetry (TG), N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, tested as low-cost adsorbents for removal of Rhodamine B dye (RhB) from aqueous solutions. Batch experiments conducted study the effect different operational parameters such adsorbent dose, solution pH, contact time. It was observed that adsorption strongly pH-dependent pH at 2.0 had greatest efficiency dye. experimental data modeled using several isotherm kinetic models Freundlich, Langmuir, Temkin well pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, intraparticle diffusion. found equilibrium can be fitted Freundlich model kinetics follows a pseudo-second-order model. capacity HU, HU-SA, HU-OCPD 8.37, 13.1, 17.8 mg/g, respectively. results revealed surface via activation polymer loading in significant increase RhB solution. This shown potential on organo-halloysite organic water.
